A Gelli Plate is a reusable, gelatin-like printing surface (made from mineral oil/polymer, not actual gelatin) used for creating unique, one-of-a-kind monoprints without a heavy press, by layering acrylic paint, textures (stencils, stamps), and paper or fabric onto its smooth, cool surface for quick, gratifying artistic results. It offers artists simple, accessible ways to experiment with printmaking, creating vibrant textures and patterns instantly.

How it works:
  1. Apply paint: Roll water-based acrylic paint onto the cool plate surface with a brayer (roller).
  2. Create texture: Press stencils, stamps, or found objects into the paint on the plate to lift color and create patterns.
  3. Print: Place paper or fabric over the painted surface and firmly rub the back, then lift to reveal your unique monoprint.
  4. Clean: Wipe the plate clean (it’s always ready for the next print) and store it at room temperature.
