300gsm/140lb is the ideal weight of paper to get started it will take a light wash without distorting but will need to be stretched for wetter applications and techniques.

NOT (Cold Pressed) - The most popular and "midddle" texture surface / HP (Hot Pressed) - The smoothest surface / Rough - The most textured.

Bockingford is a cylinder mould machine made paper from St Cuthberts Mill in Wells, Somerset. It is a good quality paper perfect for starting out with watercolours as it will peform well without breaking the bank. This is a very forgiving watercolour paper valued by amateur artists & some professionals around the world. NOT surface is slightly textured (HP is smoothest, and Rough is more textured).
